Dr. Jose L. Romero Memorial Concert to Feature Among Maui's Best

IT is a concert that many of Maui's people eagerly to look forward to each year since it was first presented 13 years ago. This year, the Dr. Jose L. Romero Memorial Concert will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 2pm at the Steppingstone Theatre in the Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center at Kahului.

The concert celebrates orchestral music and will feature many of Maui's best classical musicians of all ages.

Monies raised from the concert go to the Dr. Jose L. Romero Memorial Fund. The has provided scholarships to people of all ages studying orchestral instruments. Last year, the fund made gifts to the Maui Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, the Maui Pop Orchestra, the Hawaii Youth Symphony, and the Arts Education for Children Group.

The fund and concert were created to honor the late Dr. Jose L. Romero- Maui's own "Music Man"- who dedicated himself to finding people to play chamber music with him around the island.

Admission to the concert is $7.00 per person.
