Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino: 15th Philippine President

Before a crowd of hopeful Filipinos gathered at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila, Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III was sworn into office on June 30, 2010 as the 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines before Supreme Court Associate Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales. Aquino is the only son of democracy icons, the late former President Corazon Aquino and Benigno Aquino Jr.

In his inaugural speech, he vowed to curtail corruption  and bring change for the betterment of the Filipinos.

He further said that the slogan they used  during the campaign, “Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap,” will be the guiding principle of his administration.

He also recalled  the legacy left by his parents. “My parents sought nothing less and died for nothing less than democracy, peace and prosperity. I’m blessed by this legacy.”
