UH Ilokano Program to award scholarships

HONOLULU- In recognition of the academic achievements of students enrolled in the major program in the Bachelor’s degree in Philippine Language and Literature with concentration in Ilokano, the University of Hawaii’s Ilokano Language and Literature, in collaboration with Timpuyog: Ilokano Students Organization, will hold on April 29 the 2011 Scholarship Banquet at Hale Koa Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii.
 
Two students will receive the scholarships: Almond Jaye Ereno will receive the Timpuyog Dagiti Mannurat nga Ilokano Scholarship/Guild of Ilokano Writers Global Scholarship while Steve Badua will receive the GUMIL Hawaii Scholarship.
 
The competitive scholarship award is given out each year to deserving student 
majoring in Ilokano. 

Ereno is also enrolled in bachelor’s program in nursing.
 
Both Ereno and Badua are about to wrap up their coursework in Ilokano.
