Gutierrez is New UFCH President

LAHAINA, Maui- The delegates of the 51st United Filipino Council of Hawaii(UFCH) convention held on Maui last month, elected its new set of officers and board of governors. Leading the umbrella organization of Filipino clubs and associations  in the state of Hawaii is its new president Lynne Viloria Gutierrez. She brings with her 24 years of  experience in community service, commitment, and dedication in working towards a better and vibrant Filipino community. As a seasoned educator with the Hawaii’s Department of Education  having served  for 30 years, she  has the qualities of a strong leader.  She’s also involved with the Hawaii State Teachers Association as Leeward Director.

In a prepared speech,  Gutierrez outlined her vision for the organization.
 
“We need to strongly support to advance our set goals and objectives for the greater need of our community with proper collaboration and partnership especially this election year. We need to continue projects that are worthwhile for our community. We need to re-evaluate and maximize the use of our resources: both financial and people. We need to improve our communication with our unit organization so that they know what is going on.”
 
The other officers are: Vice-President- Norma Barroga; Secretary- Doris Saribay; Treasurer- Ben Pullido; and Auditor-Domie Bucasas. The Board of Governors are: Ben Cabreros and  Arnold Villafuerte  (Oahu); Angel Acorda (Kauai); Jean Sumagit (Lanai); Moses Luczon (Molokai);  Edwin Ranan (Big Island).
