Fil-Am Mauian Competes for State Pageant




Lahaina resident and of Filipino descent , Jasmine Lei Valdez is competing for the title of   Ms. Hawaii 2011 during its 35th Anniversary State Pageant to be held on March 13 at the Pacific Beach Hotel in Honolulu. She will compete in the over 25 years old Ms. Hawaii category.

“My participation in this pageant will allow me to pursue my personal goals--and if I am fortunate enough to win the state title, I will be able to further my education and career and become instrumental in helping people and my community,” Jasmine wrote in a flyer. She currently works  at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort as a Front Office Assistant Manager;  she also works as a casual at Hawaiian Island Creations.  She had modeling opportunities with Fierce Salon (Keli Lau),  Divine Fashions (Divine Torres), Little Black Dress (Angelena Handley) and other small local upcoming designers within the Maui community.

Tracing her Filipino roots, her grandparents from her mother (Charlotte Ranger),  side  are Roseline "Maryann"  Gazmen and Bienvenido "Tata Benny" Gazmen from Lahaina who was born in Ilocos Norte.  From her father  (William Rocky Valdez) side,  her grandfather is Joseph Dionisio Valdez from Camiling Tarlac.

Jasmine is a proud mother of  five-year old Logan Kahiapo Jamison Rickard.
